For a building fire alarm system, don't just pull a manual station to see what happens. Coordinate with the building manager and the alarm monitoring company first, put the panel into test mode, then activate a device and check that horns and strobes work in representative areas. Reset the panel, restore monitoring, and record the date and result. In most jurisdictions, comprehensive testing follows NFPA 72 or local code, and qualified technicians handle the annual or semiannual work. If there's no written record from the last test, that's a red flag.
Are Haix boots worth the extra money?

I still remember a trial where two boots with identical safety ratings looked almost the same in photos—but workers overwhelmingly chose one in a blind test. On a large order, that difference is the difference between people wearing their boots and people leaving them in the locker.
So my advice before a bulk order: get a handful of the likely candidates, test them with actual socks and orthotics, on actual surfaces, for several shifts. Let the workers vote with their feet before you buy a pallet of boots that nobody wants to wear.
